BEM, established in 1954, is the first and most experienced concrete company in Suriname, manufacturing and selling building materials and concrete products, offering various construction solutions in the area of building, road construction, land pavement, sewerage, infrastructure and raw materials.
In the 1960’s, the manufacturing activities were relocated from the Saramaccastraat to Dijkveld and it was not until 2002, that the sales department moved to the Hoogestraat. The office at the Hoogestraat was renamed the ‘Building and Advice Centre’ at the launch of the Kersten Building & Construction Division. Building professionals, contractors and do-it yourselfers are provided at this location with materials and advice.

With continuity in mind, the company initiated a number of large investments in 2007, with the introduction of new production equipment in 2008 as a milestone. In addition, steps were taken to further strengthen the operational process of BEM in order to maintain a competitive position. This is a continuous process for BEM.

Since 2009 BEM has also been offering tailor made products in addition to its standard products. The company works closely together with the customer to develop and manufacture special products complying with specific customer’s needs.
